An outstanding chance to invest in a new production pathway, targeted to both screenwriting professionals and non-professionals from any Member States.

WHAT WE NEED

An original idea. A title. A logline.

6-8 50 minute episodes set in the House of Savoy Golden Age, between XVII and XVIII centuries, when the family grew in power from ducal status to the royal title. From the Treaty of Cateau-Cambrésis of 1559 to the sparkling decades of the "Madame Reali", when the House of Savoy asserted itself as an established dinasty in Europe, from the long reign of Victor Amadeus II and his son, Charles Emmanuel III, to the French Revolution and to "Risorgimento", with the establishment of the Kingdom of Italy in 1861.

The characters, the events and History.
There are no requirement as to genre, main characters, point of view or narrative arc (two days, two months or two centuries, it is optional).
Focus on the Piedmont territory and the circuit of Royal Residences.
Knowledge of History and high quality writing.

WHO CAN APPLY?

There is no entry fee. The contest is open to both professional and non professional writers from any Member States and age 18 or over at the time of submission.

Entrants may submit one project, either as an individual or as part of a group (comprised of up to threes co-writers).

Submissions must be the unpublished work of the applicant, must not have won any production award prior to submission, be encumbered by any obligation to, or option held by, a third party prior to entering the competition, nor by any production constraints.

MATERIALS AND SELECTION

Entry and materials must be submitted online.

Entrants must fill out the entry form and submit two documents.

1. Submitted document

One all-encompassing document written in 12-point Courier and submitted in PDF format – containing the following items:

  • title and logline (2 lines max)
  • concept presentation (7,500 characters max, including spaces)
  • plot summary per episode (2 pages max per episode)
  • pilot treatment (7,500 characters max, including spaces)
  • updated CV of each Entrant (2 pages max)
  • where applicable, online view file link directly inside document

Materials may be written in Italian or English.

2. Release form

Complete in full and sign the “RELEASE FORM” document (download form) uploading it in either pdf or jpg formats.

TIMELINE

The judging panel, including 3 screeenplay development professionals and 3 editors, will be chaired by a senior scriptwriter and supervised by a Scientific Committee composed of one representative of the production companies, one historian, one representative of the Film Commission and one of the Regione Piemonte.

Submissions are evaluated according to the following criteria:

  • Compliance of submitted material with these official rules and requirements;
  • Concept originality;
  • Promotion of both historical and cultural heritage of the Residences of the Royal House of Savoy;
  • Considerations as to submitted material production prospects.

The judging panel will select a shortlist of a maximum of 20 projects for final consideration. The shortlisted projects will access a follow-up interview to facilitate the selection of the 10 finalists.

The winning project, worth 50,000 €, will be selected among said finalists; it will be announced on a date and at a place to be agreed and will be accompanied along the different production steps leading to its implementation into a TV series.
